This page is the catch-all for everything else that I couldn't or didn't want to include on any other page.About the Site
The name comes from the Hanson song Got A Hold On Me. I just thought it was a cute, slightly derisive, way to refer to the people who write fanfic.The first version of the site launched on September 14, 2009 and the round ran until October 25. I had a few snags along the way, but overall I was really happy with how it went. The second round ran from March 11 to April 25, 2010. I ended up scheduling more time into than I really needed and had lots of ties that took quite some time to break. Again, like the first round, I learned more and more about how to run awards -- and how not to!
My original plan was to run the awards biannually; however, that quickly went by the wayside. I found myself too caught up in running Boomerang to do a proper fall round that wouldn't interfer with other people's challenges. So I put the site on hiatus for Fall 2010. Whether I'll go back to the twice a year plan or stick with only once a year, I haven't yet decided. I'll just play it by ear.
