So, what is a Big Bang anyway? Well, it's a particular type of fanfic challenge that was first developed by some Harry Potter fans. The first one ever is hosted here and on LiveJournal. The idea has evolved a bit since then and been adapted to various fandoms, but the original idea was for authors to write a 50,000 word novel and for artists to create fanart for those stories.
Ours a bit different. For this big bang, authors only have to write 20,000 words. People will sign up to create fanmixes (aka soundtracks) for each story, as well as fanart -- which includes graphics, traditional art, and more. All of the results will be housed here, but the challenge actually runs on LiveJournal, here.
The whole thing is put together by me, Bethany. You might know me as the person who runs the website this is hosted on. The title for the challenge obviously comes from the very very old Hanson song Boomerang. The first round will be Summer 2010. And that's about all I have to say about the challenge.
