December 2013 CeeCee’s Creations The latest incarnation of CeeCee’s blog. Right now, there’s no hanfic content but she’s always a good source of fic recs and inspiration, like the little challenge she’s running this month. If you’re not burnt out from NaNo go sign up! |
November 2013 Hanson FanFictions I usually feature only English sites, but this is a really great new site with content in both English and Portuguese. They’re sort of a smaller version of PTH, with hosted stories, story PDFs and links to stories in both languages. ETA: Offline. No archived version available. |
October 2013 Blank Page Awards This is a repeat spotlight and a self promo, but oh well! These awards are back for another year, and there’s a week left to get your nominations in. It’s shaping up to be a highly successful round! |
September 2013 Independent Archives Anyone who visits PTH should know I’m a huge fan of independently run fanfic sites. So of course I had to spotlight this LJ community that is essentially a directory of that type of site. PTH is featured, of course, but so are other hanfic and other fandom sites. |
August 2013 HITZ Fan Fiction At the moment, this site only plays host to Galadriel’s fic, but as you can see from the introduction, she has plans to host others stories and maybe even more. She’s just getting started, but it’s definitely exciting to see a brand new site for hanfic out there. |
July 2013 Various Artists While it’s nowhere near as active as it used to be, Various Artists was once the most active and largest hanfic message board around. It’s still a good place to go if you’re looking for a lost story. |
June 2013 Feel This Way Archives I usually don’t highlight personal fic sites, but I decided to make an exception this time. Nat’s fic is some of my favorite and has been quite popular for the past few years, so I’m really happy to announce that she’s archiving it here on PTH now. If you haven’t checked it out yet, do it now! |
May 2013 The Gifted Ones At first glance, this may not seem like a hanfic site at all. But check out the “Hosted Hanson Fan Fiction” tab and you’ll find a treasure trove of classic stories. Keiko has done a great job of preserving some of the classics of the fandom and keeping them online. |
April 2013 RPS Fan Fiction This is a brand new LiveJournal community for Real Person Slash — a category that describes the vast majority of hanfic being written these days. Anyone is welcome to post and promote their stories and others’ stories in this comm, but check out the rules first for more info on how to post. |
March 2013 PTH @ Tumblr I’m always a little hesitant to self promote, but this one seemed worth it. This is the new Tumblr version of PTH. I’ll use it to promote my stories and site updates, as well as other hanfic news. If you’re on tumblr, follow it! |
February 2013 Team Zaylor This is a tumblr entirely dedicated to the most popular ship in hanfic — Zaylor. The girls who run it also have a LiveJournal where they’ve been reposting some old and unloved fics, which they promote on their tumblr, along with spreading the love to other Zaylor stories. |
January 2013 Fic Pics Although this site isn’t technically for hanfic, it’s just a great resource for any fic writers. You can adopt a banner for your stories, find tips for creating your own, enter banner challenges and more. |

December 2012 Random Fandom This is a fun site I happened to stumble across. Their goal is to be place for people to connect, even though they are in different fandoms. There are forums, reviews, a directory of authors (add yourself!) and more. Tons of fun to be had here! |
November 2012 Fic Writers This is a brand new archive for fan fiction, run by fans. They even have a section for Hanson stories! They run challenges and have a section for recommendations. This looks like a great new way to share your hanfic with a broader audience. |
October 2012 Handbasket News @ LJ Many fandoms have their own newsletters that collect updates for the week on LiveJournal and elsewhere. Hanfic currently doesn’t have one, but Handbasket News is one such newsletter for all of RPF that occasionally does feature Hanson stories. |
September 2012 Zaylor Fiction @ Tumblr Tumblr is a great resource for sharing anything in fandom, and a lot of hanfic authors have embraced it to promote their fic. This tumblog, run by Paola, promotes not just her own fic but that of many other authors, making it a great resource to get the latest updates and find new Zaylor stories. ETA: Closed. No archived version. |
August 2012 Just Shy Of Reality Just Shy Of Reality is a message board moderated by Brittney. Although not terribly active, it’s still a good place to promote your stories, search for lost stories and participate in discussions about hanfic. ETA: Closed. Archived version shown. |
July 2012 Writing on the Fourth Wall While this isn’t a strictly hanfic focused community, it does have some great discussion on all types of RPF — real person fiction, that is. Drop in and put in your two cents about the topics as they relate to hanfic! |
June 2012 Hanfic Rants Sometimes we all need to blow off a little steam. Or maybe you just have a random thought or observation about hanfic that you’d like to share. Whatever the situation, the Hanfic Rants community on LiveJournal is the perfect place to vent your hanfic frustrations. |
May 2012 |
April 2012 Stories Will Be Told This is a brand new challenge run by Amber, in celebration of the 15th anniversary of MON and the 20th anniversary of the band. Everyone who signs up will receive prompts based on classic tropes from the early days of hanfic, and its their job to breathe new life into them and write something that’s both new and old. ETA: Went offline during PTH’s host change. |
March 2012 Blank Page Awards I really missed running my own awards, but I wanted to do it a little differently this time. Thus, I started over with a blank page — ha! Nominations open later this month. |
February 2012 Hanmix Exchange The Renees have come up with a great new challenge with no writing required! Anyone can sign up one of their existing stories to receive a fanmix and make one for someone else in exchange. Signups begin later this month. |
January 2012 Don’t Judge A Book… Once again, Jesse-may has had a great idea for a very unique type of challenge. Don’t Judge A Book is sort of like a big bang in reverse. When you sign up, you have to submit a graphic which someone will write a story based on. There are still five days left to sign up, so fire up Photoshop and get creative! ETA: Closed. No archived version available. |

November 2010 Hanfic NaNoWriMo Writers United Every year, more and more hanfic writers take part in NaNoWriMo. Becca has created this comm to support and inspire all of those Hanson fans who attempt to write a novel in 30 days. ETA: Closed. No archived version available. |
October 2010 Trick or Treat This is a really fun challenge just in time for Halloween. It began last year and Renee P. has brought it back for a second round. Authors can sign up to write ficlets based on a variety of horror movie themed prompts, and their stories will be posted at the end of the month. |
September 2010 Hands Clean This community was created by Ali and Jenny for all Zaylor fans who want to read stories that don’t contain smut. Feel free to post any (non-explicit) Zaylor fics, fanart, videos and more. They also have other fun stuff, such as fic challenges, for the members. |
August 2010 100 Hanson This is a community for drabbles, which are short fics of (usually) 100 words. The community provides a list of 100 promptsfor you to fill, and rumor has it there will be a fun drabble challenge later this year. Join the community today and try your hand at some very short fics. |
July 2010 Hanson Fiction @ LJ Another self-pimpage this time. Given that most of the other hanfic communities on LiveJournal are either dead or lacking a moderator, I created a new one. It’s growing daily, so join today and share your fic, website, new challenge or just your thoughts on hanfic. |
June 2010 Boomerang Big Bang Time for a little self-pimpage. I’m starting the first hanfic big bang, which is a really fun sort of challenge that involves writing, art, and music. Check out the community to learn how you can participate. |
May 2010 Hanfic Genre Challenge Back for another year is the Hanfic Genre Challenge, which gives authors a variety of interesting and unique genres to choose from. With signups beginning now, authors have until the beginning of June to write their stories. If you want to stretch your creativity, check it out! ETA Closed. Archived version shown, and LJ version still active. |
April 2010 Hanfic Plots Tumblr is this really weird new blogging trend that allows for various types of multimedia posts. Hanfic Plots is Renee P’s newest project, and it contains all kinds of resources for plotting and writing — mostly geared toward hanfic but very useful for any writer. Also check it out the associated twitter. |
March 2010 Hanson Fiction @ DW Dreamwidth is the newest Livejournal clone, but it’s made by fans for fans. This is the first Hanson Fan Fiction community on Dreamwidth, and it’s a good place for any who reads or writes hanfic to post their stories or just talk about hanfic. |
February 2010 The Hanson Fan Fiction Archives So many hanfic sites have disappeared from the web, and it leaves a lot of us wanting to reread stories that we can no longer find. Here comes this site to the rescue! Their collection is small, but they (Who runs it? No clue.) are working diligently to post what classic hanfic stories they can. I think it’s a great effort. |
January 2010 TheTightrope.org Brought back from the ashes of the old Stay Dreaming site, TheTightrope.org is a new archive for hanfic. Anyone can create an account to submit their story to the site. The site has been open since July and already there are over 50 stories posted. Add yours today! ETA: Only available in archived version. |

December 2009 Hanfic Sprints Inspired by the sprints held during NaNoWriMo, Brittney and Renee P started a sprinting community just for hanfic. Check the community to see when sprints are being hosted and join the chat! |
