The title Galadriel chose for this fic couldn’t be more appropriate–not only do allegiances change throughout it, but so do relationships. It’s a little much to keep up with, but somehow the drama feels smaller and more relatable than in the previous story in this series.
Switching Sides picks up some time after the first story, and in the beginning seems to revolve mostly around Taylor and Ashley’s daughter Arielle and her troubles at school. Galadriel finds a neat solution for those when, after Taylor rescues her from an abusive boyfriend, Natalie moves in and is able to help out by homeschooling Arielle.
When all of that drama seems to be getting resolved, more occurs. Like I said, everyone is switching sides here and choosing different and sometimes surprising partners. Some characters are frustratingly childish, having apparently not grown any since the first story, and some drama is left unresolved. The ending is one of the most open I’ve ever seen, so it’s no surprise that Galadriel has started a third story in this series that will hopefully resolve her many plots and allow some character growth to happen.
