While the title of this fic sounds a little more salacious than the first in the series, it still sticks to some of the same religious themes, while also treading some darker territory. It isn’t quite the darker territory I imagined, but it’s certainly different.
The crossover bits of this fic are much more subdued than the first story in the trilogy; in fact, characters from Touched By An Angel only appear in flashbacks or brief mentions. Still, there are some religious aspects and moments that can’t be ignored. Those, combined with a few serious coincidences and silly inferences to keep the plot moving without being resolved, keep the drama from being all that it could be.
Sins of the Father was probably one of the very first stories to feature the popular “torturing Taylor” trope, but unfortunately, too many subsequent stories have done the plot better. It’s always a shame to see that the trend starting fics don’t quite hold up over the years, in spite of their obvious importance and influence.
