Genre het, drama/angst, romance, comedy
Pairings Taylor/OFC
Length prologue and 8 chapters
Status Completed

The prologue to Blue M&M’s Forever is a bit misleading. If you’re not excited about what seems to be yet another Middle of Nowhere era fic with a tragic backstory for the main female character, just hang in there. Things quickly change.

Okay, maybe they don’t change so much as fast forward several years, avoiding quite a lot of tedious repetition of the same drama. On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind seeing a little more of Taylor and Ellen’s friendship over the years before her sudden realization that she’s been in love with him all along. That sort of friends-to-lovers plot can be hard to pull off, but Ellen’s writing is humorous and unique enough (although it does sometimes suffer from her ESL status) that I think a little more build-up would have worked really well here.

What she has written, though, works well enough. There’s not too much focus on Ellen’s troubles with her mother, although those troubles do play a big role in the climax of the story, and there’s some interesting character development. Add in some great sexual tension and a fantastic payoff for said tension, and Blue M&M’s Forever is a pretty good, if brief, little story.
