Panic In The Streets is the first solo fic of Madden’s I have read and to be honest I think I liked it better than Ten Years and Muses in a way. While Ten Years and Muses is her most popular I sometimes feel someone’s most popular isn’t necessarily the best and that could be the case here at least for me because I did prefer Panic In The Streets over it.
It starts off with a good premise of Taylor and Winn meeting over an accidental coffee spill and then things progress from there until it becomes obvious there is going to be a triangle with Isaac. I’m used to triangle fics though the two men are usually Taylor/Zac so Isaac was a nice difference even if I think I don’t like Isaac fics much.
Winn was a relate able character in some ways but I still feel she may have been a bit overdone and dramatic in some ways too but I really loved her with Taylor even if I found Madden’s version of Taylor vastly different then how I see him but of course different strokes for different folks.
This Isaac I must admit wasn’t necessarily my favorite and there was one scene in a library that I felt bordered on dub con and could have had a trigger warning but in all it was okay though I was rooting for Taylor and Winn and luckily my rooting paid off.
I think my majors issues with though was the title didn’t really fit the plot of the story. Panic In The Streets comes from a song that just doesn’t scream chicklit and also the making the female OFC too much and coming across like the author is forcing the readers to like her. It shouldn’t be forced, it should come natural and sometimes with Winn it didn’t.
Overall though I’d reread it and I very rarely reread fanfics often.
