I must admit Isaac fic in the Hanson world is really hard to come by and usually when I do find one with Isaac as lead I don’t read it right away but with Other Than You I may have started it not long after Selina started posting it because I liked the premise of a divorced female lead character looking for a one night stand.
I’m a sucker for one night stand fics anyway so this was right up my alley in one way and in all the story didn’t disappoint.
Erin was a relate able lead character and I liked that the story was in first person point of view from her. I think it made her even more relate able that way and I almost at times even wanted to shake her when I disagreed with choices she made because I did disagree with a few but hey isn’t that what makes characters good? Their flaws.
I also liked how Selina wrote Erin’s relationship with her brother Eric thought at times Erin’s parents seemed kind of flat when they appeared and I really didn’t feel much connection to Erin’s ex-husband but I don’t think I was supposed to seeing as he was an asshole.
I immediately took to Erin’s relationship with Isaac though and I was rooting for them until the end and thankfully they work out but this is romance so I was kind of expecting them too even if at times the obstacles seemed too much for them to work though.
My cons with this story though were at times Selina forgot to break when she jumped along in a chapter and certain phrases or words weren’t really ones I would expect from a character who is American but I don’t think Selina is American so I think that was her inner author coming through.
Also while I loved the happy ending it felt kind of abrupt and I wish a lot of Erin’s character growth hadn’t seemed to have happened in the epilogue.
