I read this fan fiction while I was flying at 35,000 feet to and from a mini-vaca. I had skimmed through the beginnings of the story awhile back. In all honesty, I didn’t feel too compelled to continue to read it before; being faced with something to do – I’m so glad I chose to give it another try. Skimming through my Wattpad fics still left to read, I ventured on this story to see if anything exciting developed in the story. What did I get? I got characters that I absolutely fell in LOVE with! At first I was like eh, is there anything special about this story? But, the more I read the story and gave the author a chance, the more I couldn’t read the chapters fast enough. I knew I was enjoying the fiction, but I didn’t know at the time how much I’d grow to love the story from the first chapter to the last.

Get this: I actually CRIED! I had to dab my eyes in my Delta seat of 28D, because the author did such a fantastic job with the tug-of-war romance between Taylor and Amelia.

So, without giving TOO much away…I’ll tell you what the story is about and WHY I felt so connected to it.

The story is written from Amelia’s point of view. She’s a young runaway, and child sex abuse survivor. Having been sexually molested from the ages of 5-15, nightly from the age of 9-15. Her step-father is her abuser, my grandfather was mine.

She meets (young) Taylor, and they instantly become friends. He pities her at first, but than his feelings for her grow into a true desire to be with her. Throughout their tug-of-war relationship, Amelia has next to nothing for a self-esteem which is something as a teenager, I experienced too. Her inability to love Taylor, and her inability to love herself mirrored my teenage and young adult life. Amelia gets hooked onto drugs, and other characters like Zachary, almost refuse to understand. This reflected the world to me. The character of Zac in this story reflected exactly what someone of a “perfect” childhood MAY feel about someone who struggles with drugs due to something like PTSD.

I know this review may sound vague, but that really is the gist of it. Taylor and Amelia do receive other love interests, despite truly only wanting each other. While that seems like a very simple and basic fan fiction, the actual story is good and the character development became much stronger after the 5th chapter. My only gripe is that I truly wish the story had been longer! Author says there is a sequel coming – so I really hope there is one out or in the works. I just HAVE to know what ends up happening!

I HIGHLY recommend this fan fiction. It’s really good. It’ll pull at your heart strings. It’ll make you FEEL SOMETHING. I promise you will grow to love Amelia the way that I do!
