With A Love Incognito, I did somewhat get my wish. In this story, the fifth in the series, Taylor Quest did not continue his trend of having the entire story turn out to be nothing more than a dream. However, the reality of the story isn’t much better than, well, reality, and it almost leaves me wishing it was all just a dream.

The story begins with, you guessed it, another vacation in paradise. This one, thankfully, has no natural disasters–only what seems to be a close call during a little tryst on the beach. After that, it’s back to life as usual, with both relationships experiencing a few ups and downs as they try to figure out how to be together in the public eye. Not surprisingly, neither are able to keep things under wraps, and that’s where things start to get weird, but not in the typical Taylor Quest way.

I had wondered if it was a coincidence that Taylor’s crazy ex-girlfriend in the series shares her maiden name with Natalie; I’m still not sure if it was, but it’s clear that Taylor stole a few things from reality for his plot–and I’m not just talking about Taylor’s fling with Alex Greenwald, although that gets a brief mention as well. In a twist that comes out of left field, Walker and Diana suddenly feel the need to crack down on their sons, leading Taylor back into Anthea’s arms, even though he clearly still loves Will.

I think you can all guess how this is going to end, can’t you? While I normally love stories that deal with this period of Taylor’s life, there’s something about the way Taylor Quest handles it, combined with his continued nastiness toward Hanson fans, that leaves me feeling sick to my stomach. I’m afraid there’s no way the unfinished sixth story in the series can redeem it after everything that went wrong in A Love Incognito.
