Whenever a story becomes massively popular, my obstinant side refuses to read it and give it credit for truly being as good as everyone says it is. However, the amount of buzz that You Are A Drug And It Is Quick generated, I couldn’t resist giving it a read and it really didn’t disappoint.

The story revolves around two Hanson fans, Abigail and Kelly, after Abigail leaves a bad marriage and moves to Tulsa to start over. She runs into Zac randomly, and while that could be cheesy, it serves well to underscore Abigail and Kelly’s constant struggle with being fans randomly brought into Hanson’s inner circle. Juliet does a good job of handling that and making it believable for fans to read; we can all imagine ourselves reacting in similar ways to these two characters.

Okay, so maybe not all of us would choose the sort of friends with benefits arrangement that Abby and Zac try, but it certainly makes for interesting–and steamy!–reading. Abby is a unique character, in several ways, and her backstory adds another interesting element to the story. That and the fans-to-friends-to-lovers conflict mix together nicely, creating a really solid plot, although there are a few things that I wish had gotten a bit more foreshadowing.

You Are A Drug And It Is Quick is an incredibly quick, but meaty, read, and I can certainly see why it gained such a great reputation. Although most of its elements are ones I have seen in other stories, Juliet combines them all very well. The writing lacks polish at times, but you won’t notice the few grammatical errors once the story sucks you in.
