When authors collaborate, unless they’re really in tune with each other, it’s usually easier to write chapters separately, from each character’s point of view. It’s a method I’ve used successfully, and it’s what I think Nat and Lauren employed in this story, creating a plot that I can honestly say I’ve never seen in hanfic before.
The first two chapters are mirror images of each other: Zac and Kennedy, couch potatoes with plenty of “helpful” friends and relatives, both sign up for eHarmony. Sounds like a cheesy concept, right? It is, but the fantastic humor running through the story makes it work. Nat and Lauren have clearly done their research about online dating, and they bring the reader through the process right along with Zac and Kennedy.
Since it isn’t a long story, you can imagine that there isn’t a great deal of drama here. Falling For You is really just a cute little romance, but that’s not a bad thing. Since the focus of the story is on how Zac and Kennedy got together, it doesn’t need to be long or even all that involved. The last chapter gives them their happy ending, and that’s good enough for me.
