Not An Angry Girl

by Kate (link)

Genre het, romance, drama
Pairings Isaac/OFC, Taylor/OFC, Zac/OFC
Length prologue, 22 chapters
Status Completed (second story in a series of three)

After reading the first part of this series, I’m not especially excited about the second part. Unless Dextera has dropped her attitude problems in between the two stories, I can’t see it being a great deal more engaging or enjoyable than the first.

The title this time is Not An Angry Girl, but it’s clear after just a few chapters that Dextera is, in fact, very angry. Could that mean that — gasp — she’s actually a pretty girl, too? She does seem to elicit some pretty strong emotions from both Taylor and Zac, so I’m inclined to think that, as is usually the case in these ugly duckling stories, everyone else sees her differently than she sees herself.

It’s really a bit of a misnomer to call this story a romance, because it never quite goes there. It’s the definition of a slow burn. It’s barely even a smolder. At least it never really turns into a love triangle, managing to subvert the trope in that way. Overall, the story is still a bit too self-absorbed and consumed with how unique Dextera is, and the writing is even sloppier than the first time. I can only hope the plot speeds up a bit in the third installment.
