Featuring new authors is my favorite thing, if you didn’t already know. Ale’s first English language story was featured a few months ago, and now here she is to help us get to know her a little better.
If you haven’t read her stories yet, you can find them on Wattpad. She is also in the process of adding some of them to AO3 as well. Check those out after reading her interview!
Why did you start writing hanfic? How long have you been writing?
I started writing Hanfic about a year ago. I used to write Backstreet boys fanfictions back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I had lost track of Hanson for years and when I googled them to find out how they were looking nowadays, D.A.M.N. Where have I been all these years? In Mars, probably.
What’s it like being an international fan in a mostly American/English language fandom?
If that question was made 15 years ago, I would say we have less information besides not attending to as many shows and events as American fans have the opportunity to do. But now, a lot of things have changed, we have the amazing internet, which connects fans from all around the world and we can get information about the guys (not about Taylor’s favorite color anymore, things more interesting though) and so on.
What are your favorite hanfic stories and authors?
Model Behavior – gingersparkles on Wattpad
Nine crimes – booknerdz2 on Wattpad
You are a drug and it is quick – zhangirl22 on Wattpad
Surreal – themayqueen on AO3
My Sweet Lord – Esther D. Viana on Wattpad (Portuguese version). Just because Zac and Ale… I can’t help it, haha.
What is your writing process like?
I have a general idea how the story is gonna be like. Once the inspiration comes, I write it on a notebook, on my phone, on a napkin, etc. On my way to work, at work, watching TV at home, anytime.
Where do your ideas and inspiration come from?
Songs, tv series, movie scenes, another books or fanfics I like or even some situations I’ve been through.
Which stories are you most proud of having written?
Tragic Symphony for it’s the only story I’ve written in both languages, Portuguese and English.
And You’re Enough (only in Portuguese) because it has the cutest version of my main character.
Favorite songs to listen to while you write or which inspire your writing?
I can mention some songs that has inspired me at some point. It depends on my mood.
God must have spent… – Boyce Avenue version
I choose you – Sarah Bareilles
Sexyback – Justin Timberlake
Hotline bling – Drake
Don’t miss it much – John Moreland
Thank you, Ale, for being the first spotlight of 2017! I think it’s going to be a great year for hanfic.
