February 2013 Author: Elizabeth

I met Elizabeth not too long ago when she put out a request on Tumblr for someone to make a banner for a story she was writing. I couldn’t resist volunteering my services!

You can read that particular story, a rewrite of an older fic of hers called Don’t Close Your Eyes, as well as a few oneshots she’s written, at her LiveJournal. She has several more stories in the works that she’ll be sharing later this year as well.

Why did you start writing hanfic? How long have you been writing?
I started because I had a story in my head that needed out. I have been writing it on and off since 2004 so about ten years, I think.

You write original fic too. How is that different from writing hanfic?
It’s different in the fact that all characters are completely mine, even if some of them may in fact be based off Hanson’s in certain ways. I have never really noticed much of a difference though in doing original fic and hanfic. Writing is writing to me.

What are your favorite hanfic stories and authors?
Some of my favorite stories are Infinite by Brittney, Beatiful Liar by Renee, and The Quiet One by Krystal. As for favorite authors I really loved the one who wrote Story X though I can’t remember their name. I also like Krystal, Brittney, Bethany, and tons more. It’s so hard to pick just one.

What is your writing process like?
Basically I just turn on music and start writing. It’s sounds horrible but it’s true. I don’t plan much mainly because when I do I never stick to my plans. I just let the story work itself out.

Where do your ideas and inspiration come from?
Most of my ideas come from songs actually. Others come from things I have seen or read.

Which stories are you most proud of having written?
Don’t Close Your Eyes. It was my first hanfic that I completed in 2004. Reading over it I see how badly written it was but I am still most proud of it because I finished it.

Favorite songs to listen to while you write or which inspire your writing?
I don’t really have a favorite song to listen too while I write, though I do have some that have inspired my writing. Don’t Close Your Eyes by Keith Whitley inspired my Don’t Close Your Eyes hanfic. Try by Pink has inspired a hanfic I will be working on in February and I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift has inspired a story I am working on right now.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for being my February spotlight! I look forward to reading the rest of your stories.
