January 2015 Author: Morgan Andrews

I’m always excited to gain new fans and to find new authors, and Morgan Andrews here happens to be both! She contacted me to let me know she was loving one of my stories, and I have to say, I’m enjoying the one she’s just started posting, too.

You can read her series, consisting of Forbidden Love, Desire and Infinity, on her LiveJournal or her website, and you can read my interview with her below.

Why did you start writing hanfic? How long have you been writing?

I am not sure why really, my friends and I often talked about ideas and I think I was just the one to pick up the pen and paper and begin to write them. At that time, 1997, Hanson had just become popular and they were the subject of many of our ideas. I wrote Hanfic for about 4-5 years and then stopped, I just recently did a few with Hanson in them.

I have been writing for 17 years with just a few short breaks. As a side note, when I began writing computers were not popular so all of my earlier stories are hand written with pen and notebook paper.

Do you write other fiction and/or fanfic as well? If so, what genres/fandoms/etc?

Hanfic is really the only fandom I have ever written in. There was a brief story with NKOTB but it was scrapped and re-written using Hanson.

90% of my stories are non-fanfiction. I am not sure how I would truly classify them but if I had to guess maybe action, drama, and maybe angst. I am not good with super sappy love stories but I do try to include love and soul mates into stories if/when appropriate.

What are your favorite hanfic stories and authors?

I haven’t been able to read a LOT of hanfic’s, at least not recently but the stories that I have become addicted too and seem to always check for updates or re-read are:

Truth is a Whisper & Bled Dry: Ahopper84 & Shewasred
The Bodyguard: Team Zaylor
Lust: It’s by tourturingtaylor (itzaimster) on Archive of my own.

In a non-hanfic sense I have 3 favorites Jonathan Kellerman, James Patterson & Iris Johansen. 🙂

What is your writing process like?

I really do not have any real process. Generally I start writing with the idea that comes to mind and I see where it goes. I then read them afterward and if I need to edit or fix I do. Sometimes, although rarely, I will make a plan and plan ahead of time.

Where do your ideas and inspiration come from?

Any and everywhere! It could come when I am somewhat half asleep/half awake and dream about something or from friends and family, songs, even other works may inspire something or inspire me to write in that area.

Which stories are you most proud of having written?

I am proud of them all really. I would have to say that End Of The Line (Not related to the Hanson song) and Blood Relations. I also really am proud of The Past Always Comes Back even if I have re-written it 3 times . 🙂

Favorite songs to listen to while you write or which inspire your writing?

I obviously listen to Hanson, but it really depends on my mood. I have a large collection of music so I have everything from Hanson, NKOTB, and Backstreet boys to Iggy Azelea, Eminem, Hinder, etc…

Not many specific songs have inspired me really to use it as a story. However, there was a song a long time ago that inspired an idea, a friend sent me the song it was Seven Mary Three- Water’s Edge.

Thank you, Tigress, for being the first author spotlight of 2015!
