End of NaNo, beginning of new spotlights!

End of NaNo, beginning of new spotlights!

I’m not good at coming up with creative titles for these blogs. Oh well.

So, now that November is over, we can talk a deep breath and step back from the keyboards. Because NaNoWriMo is officially over. How did you guys do? I finished up on Sunday, three days early. Not too shabby. I still have around a chapter left to write to complete the story, but my 50k is done. The only problem with NaNo is that by the end of the month, I’m totally exhausted and I hate my story. I hope that I can soon get back to editing it and post it not only under lock and key at LiveJournal, but publicly.

Now that that’s over, it’s time for a new batch of monthly spotlights. Here’s what I’ve got on tap for you this time.

  • Author: Amanda W.
  • Story: Chemical Party by Renee P.
  • Website: A Very Hanson Christmas

It looks like we’re going to have a very good holiday season in the hanfic world!

New new new!

New new new!

I’m so happy to be posting here again! I’m stealing some wifi right now so I can update you guys on what’s going on around here, and I’ve been saving up lots of stuff to update. Here’s a list of what’s new:

  • Slightly belated October spotlights, featuring Amber, Use For Your Words and Addicted by Chi.
  • A few new awards added to Extemporaneous.
  • My new short story, People Call Us Renegades, from Taking The Leap is posted here now.
  • My email address has changed and I’ve fixed all the links for it.
  • Four (!!!!) new chapters of Love and Other Socially Acceptable Emotions.

I think that’s everything. I also have a new hostee moving in soon, but I’ll save that announcement for when she’s actually got her page all up and running. Not to mention a new section I’m working on, but more on that too when I get the kinks ironed out.

I love the fall! It seems like the hanfic world is coming back alive this time of year, too, which makes it even better. Taking the Leap is just finishing up posting all the new stories written for it, and Trick or Treat is wrapping up signups soon, so hurry up and get yourself on the list. Then, of course, NaNoWrimo is coming in November and Christmas Time right after that. It’s going to be a good autumn, that’s for sure! I hope you guys feel it, too.

Spotlights now and more new stuff later.

Spotlights now and more new stuff later.

I am no bueno at coming up with creative titles for these blog posts. But I suppose that’s okay. Informative is good, right? I think so. And hopefully legible, considering I’m uploading and updating blindly. Oh dialup, thou art a fickle mistress.

So, as the title says, I’ve posted the monthly spotlights for August. They are as follows:

  • Author: Jesse-may
  • Story: Full Count by Becca and Rebekah
  • Website: Everything Hancestical
  • As for the more new stuff later part? I’ve got a new design and a huge 100+ site update for the directory, but I’m holding that back for a few days…

…because I have new hostees who are in the process of moving in! More about those in the future, when their sites are ready for viewing.

I hope I’ve created some sort of suspense by dangling all this awesomeness over your heads. Check back soon when all will be revealed, haha.

    Return of the monthly spotlights

    Return of the monthly spotlights

For some reason, this is formatted funny on the main page. Click “read more” to sort it out. Sorry.

Just like the headline says, I am finally bringing my laziness to an end and restarting the monthly spotlights. You can see the story and website up there on the banner, but here’s a little more information on all of them.

    • Website Hanfic Fanmix on LiveJournal
    • Story Queens in Castles of Beaded Lace by Mel
    • Author Diamond

As always, check out the full spotlight page here to see the interview and descriptions of the website and story. Enjoy.

    February updates

    February updates

Well, you might have noticed all my tweets lately about how I’ve been changing the site’s layout. I’m finally done with it — I hope. I keep finding little things to tweak, but mostly I’m really happy with how this layout looks and I plan to keep it (with or without any more little changes) for the rest of the year.

As for other updates, I’ve got the monthly spotlights up on time this month. The featured author is Nat, who has contributed some awesome articles to the site and helped with my still-not-posted “Intro to Hanfic” page. Website of the month is Becca’s Hanfic Calendar and story of the month is SNAFU by Ali, which I think you’ll find to be very helpful and very unique, respectfully. I think you guys will be very pleased with this month’s spotlights.

That’s basically all I have in the works right now, but I did want to remind you guys that I will be starting up the third round of Thieves and Liars next month. The plan is to launch the nominations in mid-March, but I don’t have the schedule set in stone yet. As soon as I do, I will post about it here as well as tweet about it so that you guys can be as ready for the new round as I am.

Until then, I hope you guys enjoy these little updates to the site.
