This year’s going our way!

This year’s going our way!

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all have an awesome, Hansony year.

2011 wasn’t a good year for me in a lot of ways. I made several hanfic resolutions on this blog and failed to keep most of them. But I’m determined to do all I can to make 2012 better; hopefully everything that’s out of my control with will cooperate this time, too.

I did publish a few new stories in the past year. I started it off with a bang, in fact. My story for the Mixtape Challenge, Stays the Same, was my first Taylor story in a decade, and although it was short, it was complete. Then I published Cesura, the second Sweetest Downfall story. It was awesome to see how much everyone loved it and the series. Flash, Renee P and I posted the first two chapters of our collaboration, Skin and Bone, but we haven’t made much progress on it since then. Maybe the new year will change that.

I began to lose motivation in the spring and I struggled, and ultimately failed, to finish my story for the The Spark Aside, Untold. I did manage to publish a little bit of it later in the summer, but I haven’t updated it since October.

In November, I had my first real success of the year. I gave What Didn’t Happen a second try for NaNoWriMo and this time, I completed it. But my interest in it has faded since and only a small portion of it is online under friends lock on my LiveJournal.

I also published a few chapters of Love and Other…, a slashy oneshot, remodeled all my story pages, gained several new hostees and… oh yeah, wrote over 200 pages on Interwoven, the last story in the Sweetest Downfall Series. None of that story has been published yet, though.

So, all in all, it has felt like a frustrating and disappointing year, but looking back, it wasn’t really. There have been some great challenges this year and some great stories by old and new authors. I hope to do another awards round in the spring, although it may be something different from Thieves and Liars. We’ll see.

Now, my resolutions for this year in hanfic:

  • don’t publish any new stories (aside from challenges and oneshots) until I finish writing/posting an old story
  • finish writing Interwoven and edit it; hopefully post it as well
  • finish Love And Other…
  • edit and post What Didn’t Happen to the website
  • complete every challenge I enter
  • convert Extemporaneous to WordPress
  • finish editing and building the webpage for my new hostee(!!!)
  • run a new, more exciting awards round!
  • the big one — avoid putting the site on a hiatus again!!

I think that’s it for me this year, and I hope to accomplish all of it. I believe it’s all totally doable, and I can’t wait to get started. What about you guys? Any good plans for your hanfic this year??
