New things (as promised)

New things (as promised)

I may have gotten a bit ahead of myself this month. I planned on debuting one new feature this month, but actually ended up updating several things. I think you guys will enjoy it all, though. Although I’m a day early, the new monthly spotlights are posted. They are as follows:

  • Author: Ali
  • Story: Gracie by Bryanne
  • Website: Zaylor Fiction @ Tumblr

But that’s not all! Read on to see what else I’ve added.

I’ve also made a huge update to the directory, bringing it to officially over 3000 links. Over 3000, you guys! That is a LOT of hanfic.

Of course, I’m sure you also can see that I’ve changed the layout to a Banditos theme. I thought it was more than due for a change, and what better than something inspired by the new EP? I’m really happy with this one. Obviously it’s just a new header, background and different colors, but it’s a nice change.

Then there’s the promised new feature for this month, which you can see under the “Content” menu over on the right. It’s a page of Writing Resources which I think will be really useful to everyone who writes hanfic or is thinking about writing hanfic.

My last two new items aren’t really anything I’ve done, but I think they’re still worth telling you guys about.

First of all, I’ve checked out the site’s stats for the first time in ages. Truth be told, I didn’t realize that stats were still being tracked, but apparently they are and apparently the site has had well over 5000 views this year alone. That is insane! So why does the fandom feel so dead? Clearly there is still a ton of interest in hanfic. So if you’re thinking about writing a story, I say go for it! And if you’re just a reader, it’s really important that you give the authors you love feedback to let them know that they aren’t putting in all their hard work for nothing.

Lastly, Diamond has opened up Taking The Leap for another round. You’ve got about a week left to sign up, and I highly encourage it! I’ve signed up, and you should too!

I think that’s all the news for this time. Stay tuned for more new stuff next month.
